Showcase Holograms hopes that PC gamers are over RGB lighting and ready to embrace the future. The ‘future’ being holograms, obviously. At CES 2023, the company is currently demoing its brand-new Hologram PC side panel.
Last year the company showed off a special PC case fitted with hologram tech. But this year, instead of an entire case, you can tack on a hologram side panel to any PC case that’ll loop a custom 3D hologram of your choice.
The holograms themselves have a grungy retro-futuristic look, as if they belong in the background shot of a classic sci-fi flick. Obviously, if there were a hologram I’d choose to project from a PC it would be Princess Leia from Star Wars or Cortana from the Halo Series; however, not that Cortana.

So when Bungie first teased an overhaul of heavy weapons for next month’s Lightfall expansion, we all instinctively knew that a major nerf was on the cards.

Today’s Wordle was an enjoyable challenge. World of Warcraft’s subscription price hasn’t budged in most parts of the world for 20 years. Long before our collective nostalgia birthed WoW Classic, you had to pay Blizzard $15 a month to spend hours auto-attacking wolves in Elwynn Forest. The only difference now is that the wolves are in high-definition.
John Hight, Warcraft’s senior vice president and general manager, spends more time thinking about adding value to the subscription than asking for more money. “As of yesterday, we have three games you can play under the same subscription, which hasn’t changed in price in over 20 years,” he told PC Gamer in an interview at GDC. “Take that, inflation.”

I’ve never been a huge fan of New Game+ modes in FromSoftware games. While it’s fun to rip through progressively harder versions of the game, the balance eventually starts to get wonky, your chosen stat progression means less, and you’re left wondering whether it would’ve been more fun to just load up a new save and enjoy the more intentional difficulty curve of a first playthrough.
